A Story of Growth, Resilience, and Purpose
Devin Pellom is the kind of student who makes us proud to do this work. After moving from Orangeburg, South Carolina to Wilmington as a child, Devin found early academic support at Gregory Elementary School, where his confidence and work ethic began to take shape. At Williston Middle School, he distinguished himself as both a dedicated student and a multi sport athlete, earning A and B Honor Roll recognition.
At New Hanover High School, Devin joined Camp Schreiber, where academic support and mentorship helped him stretch beyond what he thought possible. He balanced demanding coursework through the Lyceum Program with basketball, football, and track, learning how discipline in the classroom and commitment on the field could strengthen one another. Mentors noticed not just his grades, but his steadiness, curiosity, and willingness to lead. As a member of the STAE Program, Striving to Achieve Excellence, he sharpened his leadership skills and deepened his focus on personal growth.

Devin began college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a member of the football team. When his time with the program ended earlier than planned, he stayed focused on his long term goals and later transferred to Louisburg College, where he helped lead his team to the NJCAA National Football Championship. In early 2025, Devin transferred to North Carolina Central University and earned a 3.8 GPA in his first semester.
Today, he continues to approach his education with discipline, intention, and resilience. Devin’s journey reflects what is possible when students are supported, challenged, and believed in. Thanks to the continued investment of our donors, young leaders like Devin are not only reaching their potential. They are redefining it.
His story is still being written, and we are proud to be part of it.
“We are infinitely proud of Devin and the journey he continues to forge. Currently majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, Devin embodies the Schreiber promise not only through the path he has taken, but through his daily commitment to growth, leadership, and community. He is a powerful example of what it means to be a Schreiber man and a reminder of what is possible when young people are supported, challenged, and believed in.”
