OUR IMPACT

founder, ceo of the schreiber foundation

a letter from our board of directors

Over the past twelve years, our mission has grown along with our campers. One week with our campers inspired us to do more to ensure they had access to realize their full potential. We built the 51 Weeks program to provide holistic support all 365 days of the year. Our numbers are small, allowing our impact to be deep and life-changing. We do whatever it takes, to support each of our boys to and through college. In May 2019, Dantae Moore became our first student to graduate from college. Armed with his degree from UNCW, Dantae is now pursuing his own version of the American Dream. Since then, we have had several esteemed graduates. Our senior campers have become role models to our youngest boys. In the coming years, more and more Schreiber scholars will earn their degrees, becoming professionals and leaders in their communities.

We believe income inequality shouldn't prevent anyone from accessing education

Schreiber began in 2011 with a simple idea: create an epic one-week summer camp experience for great kids overcoming big obstacles.

Schreiber is a 52-week program that builds resiliency, cultivates brotherhood, supports academic excellence and provides wraparound support to Schreiber kids and families.

Schreiber is about bridging the opportunity gaps, breaking down barriers, and creating space for kids who have the ambition to become generational game changers.

Camp Schreiber is a non-profit organization that believes in a world where if you work hard, you will go far. We work to remove the financial, social, and practical barriers standing between young men and college graduation. Our numbers are small, allowing our impact to be deep and life-changing. We do whatever it takes to support each of our boys to and through college. We graduate game changers to become mentors, role models, professionals and leaders in their communities- in Wilmington, NC and beyond. The Schreiber Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to positively impacting our community. We provide educational services and out-of-classroom experiences to deserving young men in Wilmington, North Carolina. We have a depth of commitment to the young men selected to participate and we invest in our students, their families, and their education. Supporting students from middle school through college, The Schreiber Foundation aims to remove obstacles for the young men it serves. We want the participants in our program to know that if they work hard, they can go far. There are still many structural and social barriers to educational equality and the Schreiber Foundation is working to equip our students for life after high school and college.

Naz Jacobs joined Schreiber at the end of his sixth grade year. From the beginning, he was immensely talented, charismatic and quick to forge meaningful relationships. Through his participation in Schreiber, he became more inquisitive, confident, hard-working, and resilient. His participation in the program allowed him to combine his skills and diverse interests in a transformative way. Now, six years later, he’s attending the University of Kentucky, studying Equine Science. Naz embodies the Schreiber promise.
