It is our pleasure to formally introduce Ms. Veronica Kelly, a remarkable educator and cornerstone of the Schreiber Foundation community.
Although Ms. Kelly has officially been on staff with the Schreiber Foundation for just over a year, her impact on our students reaches back to the very beginning of our program in 2011. Few individuals can say they have touched the lives of nearly every Schreiber student since our inception. Ms. Kelly is one of them.
She brings more than 23 years of experience in New Hanover County Schools, including eight years as a teacher assistant at Gregory Elementary School, where she supported students such as Josh Bell and Josh Pigford. She is currently in the midst of her 15th year at Williston Middle School, our primary partner school and the place where we recruit nearly all of our Schreiber Scholars in the seventh grade.

Long before officially joining our staff, Ms. Kelly helped maintain a strong partnership between Williston, Schreiber families, and the broader community. In her current role as our lead ELA tutor at Base Camp, she continues to be a steady and trusted presence for our students.
Her experience, wisdom, and kindness shaped by years in the classroom make her both an effective educator and a beloved one. Ms. Kelly is a compassionate builder of relationships who not only sees the potential in every student, but provides the unconditional care and support needed for them to grow into the best version of themselves.
Alongside the guidance staff and administration at Williston, Ms. Kelly also plays a key role in identifying and recruiting prospective students. These are highly deserving young people who demonstrate academic promise, grit, and a desire to become generational change makers.

This year, we are proud to welcome five new seventh graders from Williston to the Schreiber community. Saron, Ra’Juan, Hunter, Timothy (not pictured), and Dominic have just completed their first week of our after school program. Their energy has already been contagious and inspiring, serving as a powerful reminder of what is possible when barriers are removed and opportunities are created.
We are deeply grateful for Ms. Kelly’s leadership, heart, and unwavering commitment to our students and community.
With gratitude,
Tim Jarman
