Dear Friends,
As I reflect on this past year at The Schreiber Foundation, I am filled with gratitude. The energy at our after-school program, Base Camp, has been transformed by our staff, volunteers, board members, donors, community partners, and most importantly, our students.
This year, we welcomed six new seventh-grade students from Williston, each bringing curiosity and resilience into the Schreiber brotherhood. From the start, they have been learning, connecting, and growing, building confidence and a strong sense of brotherhood.
Summer at Camp Schreiber was one for the books. New campers joined the brotherhood, returning campers carried on traditions, and together they grew through challenge, community, and the joy of doing hard things.

Camp has always been more than time outdoors. It is where kids learn to trust themselves, respect others, and feel a deep sense of belonging. They experience the joy of doing hard things, discover resilience, and begin to understand what it means to be part of a brotherhood. Those lessons last long after summer ends, and they are only possible because people like you believe in what camp can do.

This summer we also welcomed three first-time campers. Within days they were fully engaged, building relationships with mentors, pushing themselves to try new skills, and finding confidence in unexpected places. Watching them grow into the brotherhood of Camp Schreiber was a powerful reminder that your support is not just felt, it is lived out in real and lasting ways.
At Base Camp, we focus on supporting the whole child. By emphasizing nutrition, physical rigor, mental health, social-emotional learning, and arts enrichment alongside academic support, we have helped all 14 students make meaningful progress while strengthening resilience, self-awareness, and relationships. Students have enjoyed bi-monthly visits to the Cameron Art Museum, weekly swimming at the Northside Pool, and tutoring three days per week, experiences that promote healthy habits, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance.

This year, Base Camp underwent renovations to the house, backyard, and interior, made possible by our partners at Monteith Construction. The improvements have created a safer, more productive learning environment while preserving our beautiful home, originally built in 1905.
In October, we traveled with our students to the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. They explored medical pathways and learned how to start preparing now for careers in healthcare. It was one of the most enriching experiences I have had, and our students agreed on the bus ride home. We look forward to returning next fall as prospective Brody Scholars. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we are empowering young men to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
With gratitude,
